Client Love: What This Bride Said About Working With Me
What you don’t know about my monthly articles is that when I am having trouble thinking of ideas, I do some research to get some options. When this article possibly came up, I had to jump on it. There’s one Google review from a recent client that I had to talk about.
As you know by now, I work at The Denver Clocktower quite a bit. The owner is truly a friend at this point; anytime she has a new client that needs a photographer, she gives them my name. This referral came in the form of an elopement. And that was honestly just about all the information I was given before I arrived that day. I am telling you this because I am not exaggerating when I say the review you are about to read finally filled me in on the rest of their story. While reading it, I definitely uttered an audible, “Oooooh!”
“It was a very long day—we drove five hours to our destination, celebrated our wedding, and then made the five-hour drive home all in one day. We were excited but completely exhausted. Through it all, Kaitlin was pure sunshine. She did an incredible job capturing our special day while also bringing such positive, uplifting energy when we were all running on fumes from the drive and the emotional high of the moment. She kept us engaged, smiling, and present. Kaitlin was also incredibly thorough, taking the time to capture everything we requested, from family photos to individual moments with each of our kids. She is both personable and efficient, a rare and wonderful combination. I am so grateful to her for beautifully capturing the incredible moment when I got to marry the love of my life.”
First of all, “Kaitlin was pure sunshine” had me giddy. I am fully considering rebranding my business around that statement. What a wonderful thing to say about someone. Secondly, what an amazing review to be given after such a long day. I could tell when I got there, they were tired. I could feel it in the room, but I didn't have any context as to why they would be so exhausted. I got to officially meet my client for the first time (funny how I chose a profession that regularly does the one thing I was always told not to, “never meet up with strangers you met on the internet” HA!), which is pretty normal, the man she was marrying, and their four older children. I think the youngest was maybe a junior in high school. It was pretty clear they had been a mixed family living together for quite some time, and finally decided to just elope. When we finally got to the ceremony, the mood lifted significantly, and everyone there had happy tears in their eyes. A&D’s kids were clearly happy for their parents and made the photography process a lot of fun. (see photo below for proof)
At the end of the day, this was a fantastic example of choosing to do what you want for your wedding day but making sure you make the most of it with the people you are closest to and a photographer that can bring “pure sunshine” along with them.
